Brooks Giger : Doublebass
Brooks Giger attended the Geneva Popular Conservatory under the teaching of Olivier Magnenat. He then studied classical music with Mirella Vedeva-Ruaux and continues to study with Patrice Moret.
His interest for different styles of music (from avant-garde to baroque musique) and the multiple sonorities possible on the double bass have pushed him to explore bowing techniques and the music of diverse masters such as Edgar Meyer, Joel Quarington, Barre Philipps,Claude Tchamitchian, Wilbert de Joode, William Parker, Peter Kowald or Kent Carter.
During several years he had a duo of spoken word/ poésie sonore with Laurent Guenat, FABELSAFT.
His other actual projects are, CONTROVENTO with Luca Pagano, Dominic Egli and Reto Suhner, KUMO with Jean-Jacques Pedretti and Emanuel Künzi, OLD POOR & ANONYMOUS with Nicola Orioli and Anthony Dietrich Buclin and MAJOR TAYLOR with Jean-Jacques Pedretti, Martin Wisard and Nelson Schaer.
